Terror funding case: NIA raids multiple locations in Kashmir

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday raided several locations in the Kashmir Valley in connection with a terror financing case and detained one person for questioning, officials said.

Raids were conducted at nearly a dozen places in Srinagar, Awantipora, Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag areas.

One person has been detained for questioning by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Srinagar's Sozeith area, officials said.  The arrested person has been identified as Ishaq Ahmad Bhat.

"The NIA came early in the morning between 5.30 and 6.00 am. They asked for Ishaq and took him away along with his mobile phone. He works as a labourer,” Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, father of the suspect, toldas per reports. "We have no links with militancy or stone pelting," he added.

Bilal Bhat, the brother of the detained person, said Ishaq was illiterate and worked as a window glass fitter.

The raids are being conducted in connection with a terror funding case registered last year. The crackdown comes as security agencies continue to crackdown against the terror networking in the Valley in the wake of the Poonch terror attack on April 20.Five Army jawans were killed after the truck they were traveling in was attacked by terrorists with gunfire and grenade in Bhimbher Gali area.
